Updated 6/7/2010 KTM Dealer Show

This year’s KTM Dealer Show centered around some exciting new products that have already caused a lot of buzz in our sport with the success we have seen in the World GPs and the AMA Outdoor Nationals. The 2011 205SXF and the 250SXF are the most visible of this new technology, but in true KTM fashion these improvements are utilized throughout the 2011 line. All the 2011 models got new frames with geometry like the new SX line.

            2011 250 SXF 2011 350 SXF

The Day began at the West Coast offices of KTM in Temecula
Ca. This facility houses the race shop and corporate facilities for KTM.

We then moved to the host Hotel , Pala Resort and Casino just down the road in Pala Ca. The day was spent in new product seminars educating us on all the technical improvements on the new 2011 models. The evening finished with a dinner-business meeting where KTM presented their corporate direction for the next model year. KTM brought in some of the key historical bikes they normally have stored to remind us that we are a racing company. Another treat during the Dealer Show is that many of the factory riders attend this event. I had a chance to chat with Kurt Caselli who raced the Erzberg Enduro over the weekend and just returned from Austria. He finished seventh and described the event just as you see it on video. I sat at dinner next to a KTM rep from Canada who got back from pitting for the KTM Team with David Pearson in the Baja 500 over the weekend, they finished third. The feeling you come away from these shows with is we are a racing company and it is our passion. It show in the our involvement in all aspects of racing and the employees and Dealers that are what they call “Orange Bleeders”. It is what makes KTM unique from all other brands of motorcycles. The 2011 model line will start coming into the store in late July or early August. Please come by and we will go through the new line’s features with you. We will also post information on this site on the new models.

Pictured are the Dakar winning 950, Mike Alessi’s 450 SXF,
Russ Pearson’s Baja bike, and Russell Bobbitt’s Enduro bike.
Many more of KTM championship bikes were on display.
Updated 6/10/2010 Baja 500 Update
There was good news and bad news involving local riders reported previously that raced the Baja 500 last weekend.
David Rutherford and his team finished fifth in class 50; a great achievement. The bad news is that our other local rider, Tim Nugent, was involved in a serious accident where he collided with a trophy truck while racing on the course. We know that he has extensive damage and we ask that you include him in your thoughts and prayers. As we get more information on his condition we will pass it along.

Updated 5/31/2010 KTM wins big at USGP
What does KTM do on a weekend off the US Nationals -
Beat up on the rest of the world. KTM’s new 350 is proving to be World dominant with victories in the MX1 and MX2 classes at Glen Helen on Sunday 5/30/2010. In the big bike class MX1 Anthony Cairoli and Mike Alessi finished one -two for a KTM near perfect showing. That new 350 rocks. Updated 5/24/2010 New 350 SX- The Answer - YES!
The question is will the new fire breathing 350 SX KTM Motocrosser be able to run with the larger 450 on the fast outdoor MX Championship series especially the starts. Mike Allesi answered this debate in the first race of the 450 National series with a top three start in Moto number 1 and a holeshot to finish-line on moto number 2. KTM once again puts the big four scrambling to catch up. You can get a new 350 KTM soon from us and we are taking deposits right now for the first bikes to arrive.
Update 5/15/2010 Pro Moto riders race the Baja 2010
Have you ever watched Dust to Glory and said I’d like to race that one day? Several of our local riders are doing just that this year. We have two separate groups racing the Baja 500 this year. Tim Nugent and friends are taking on the 500 and David Rutherford and his team are also racing the Baja 500. This is only a month away. We will update you on their progress. We
also have a group that is racing the Baja 1000 this year. This year’s race is a top to tip race from Ensenada to La Paz covering 1300 miles. This Team is the Dirt Bike bucket list comprised of four local racers. Don Gentry, Frank Raimondo, Scott Smith and Tom Nagle are teaming together to do the race of a lifetime. They have a web site www.dirtbikebucketlist.com and you can follow their progress through that site. We here at Pro Moto Sports KTM are behind them and if you would like to be a part of the experience you can be a team supporter. They are offering many cool items for sale to offset the cost of this event experience and are looking for local riders that would like to “Live the Dream and support the Team” We will also have some events upcoming to meet and offer support for the team here at the shop.
